Overview
The following items are available progressively from program stage 5, and only if they are applicable to the current caret position else they appear grey:-

Format Text - Overview
Located in the Format Menu and has the following options:-
· Fonts
· Color
· Highlight Color
· Bold
· Italics
· Underline
· Left align
· Center
· Right align
· Justify
· Bullet
· De-Indent
Format Tabs - Overview
Located in the Format Menu.
Tab stops are icons which are part of the Ruler function and control the additional indent or spacing of text after Tab key entry.
A Tab icon may be added to the ruler by just clicking at the chosen position, the type of a Tab function is dependent on which Tab button is selected. Tab icons may be dragged to a new position or deleted by dragging them off the ruler. Each paragraph can have a different Tab stop format, changes are applied to the current or selected paragraphs.
The Ruler may contain many Tabs and to move each icon individually would be tiresome so the Format Tabs dialogue facilitates such changes. Paragraph settings are displayed in the Tab stop position list when activated. The dialogue has the following options:-
· Clear All - select button to remove all Tabs
· Reset All - choose the spacing from the Tab Spacing drop down list (5mm to 40mm between each Tab) and then select Reset All button.
· Set Tab - Tabs may be set individually by selection and edit of the value in the Tab stop position edit listing.
Note:-
· To apply changes to the document select OK button, selecting Cancel button disregards any new dialogue settings.
Format Object - Overview
Located in the Format Menu, activates the Object Controls dialogue which has the following options that appear 'grey' and/or inactive if not applicable to the selected object:-
· Fast Display - can display the filename of the embedded object with the object's area being represented by a grey section; thus saving time re-painting the screen during other input, edit or view scroll actions.
· Save with Document - when checked it indicates that the object's data is saved within the document file, else the object is linked to the objects own file.
· Text Flow Borders - indicates the margin between the object and adjacent text, with individual settings for Top, Left, Right and Bottom.
· Scale Factor - can be used to resize, stretch and/or distort an image of the object. A number may be typed in the edit box or the Up or Down arrow can be used to 'spin' the value.
Note:-
· changes may be applied to the document whilst keeping the dialogue open by using the Apply button.
· changes are made and the dialogue is closed on selection of the OK button.
· the Cancel button disregards changes and closes the dialogue panel.
Format Paragraph - Overview
Located in the Format Menu and has the following options:-
· Format - shows the Paragraph Format dialogue which includes the following options:-
· Line spacing - can be selected from Single, One and a half, Two lines or a Free number of lines. The latter may be entered in the edit box and has a maximum of 4 lines. If the 'in mm' box is checked then spacing is chosen from mm sizes. The 'Exact' check box indicates if 'best fit' is used.
· Alignment - a paragraph can be aligned Left, Right, Centered or Justified. The latter produces a vertical beginning and end to the wrapped lines of a paragraphs by 'stretching' the text which is used in published text.
· Indents - a paragraph may have Left, Right and First Line indents entered in the edit box in mm. These are shown as triangular icons on the Ruler left side, the top icon dictates the indent value for the first line with the bottom icon controlling the indent value for other lines.
· Distances - set using the Top and Bottom edit boxes, and determine the gap between adjacent paragraphs.
· Border - shows the Paragraph Border dialogue which includes the following options:-
· Parts - includes Top, Left, Right and Bottom, if all selected then the paragraph is within a rectangle. If Tab Lines box is checked then vertical lines appear at each Tab position.
· Styles - provides for Connected Borders and Double Lines.
· Line Width - click on the down arrow and select from the drop down list from 1 to 12 points.
· Text Distance - determines the gap between text and border lines, click on the down arrow and select from the drop down list from 0 to 12 points.
Format Document - Overview
Located in the Format Menu and has the following options:-
· Page Setup - shows the Page Setup dialogue which includes the following options:-
· Paper - includes a size selector which automatically enters paper width and height with the following options:- A4, A5, B5, Letter, Legal and User defined. If set to the latter then the Height and Width edit boxes control size. If the Landscape checkbox is not ticked then the paper has the Portrait orientation.
· Page Margins - the Top, left, Right and Bottom edit boxes enable control of the gap between the document edge and it's contents.
· Document Title - enables text string to be added.
· Background - shows the Color dialogue to enable the document background color to be changed.
Note:-
· To disregard changes select the Cancel button or to commit changes to the document then select the OK button.
